What's Covered

  • Rescue-related costs — initial rehabilitation, overseas foster care, etc.
  • Flight costs — TSA-approved crate, additional baggage charge, etc.
  • Distemper vaccination (x2) and rabies vaccination
  • Heartworm testing and deworming
  • Microchip insertion (not applicable to dogs from Guadalajara)
  • Medical certificate required for international travel

Additional Fees at Pickup

Flying into Vancouver: a $36.50 CAD Agricultural Inspection Fee, and you may be charged duty and taxes (which can range from $75-130). Whether you are charged duty and taxes or not depends on the CBSA officer. If your dog is flying in cargo, there is a $25 CAD porter fee — please bring cash to the airport for the porter.
Flying into Seattle: similar fees may apply; drive down and pick up yourself.

Refunds: your $100 deposit is fully refundable if you change your mind before your dog is booked on a flight, and non-refundable after. The full adoption fee (deposit included) is refundable if, within your 4-week trial period, you decide the dog isn't the right fit — just reach out, and we're always happy to extend the trial if you need more time.

West Coast Paws is a registered non-profit. The majority of every adoption fee goes directly to the Rescuer to cover flight and medical costs; a small portion supports WCP's own operations (foster reimbursements, trainer fees, contingency fund, and more).
