8 Steps to Your New Best Friend

Submit an Application

Click "Adopt" on a dog's profile and fill out the application in detail. List more than one dog you'd love to meet — popular pups get multiple applicants, so this widens your chances of a match.

Phone Interview

A quick ~15 minute call about your lifestyle, experience, and what you're looking for in a dog. Our team decides from there whether to move you to the next step.

House Check

Send photos or video of your home and yard (fencing included) so we can spot any safety concerns before your pup arrives — no showhome required!

Approval

You'll get an official approval email. If your original dog is no longer available, we'll suggest great alternatives.

Deposit

A refundable $100 CAD deposit reserves your dog and pauses their profile. Sent via e-transfer or PayPal to accounting@wcpdogrescue.com.

Flight & Final Payment

Your pup gets a vet check, vaccinations, and a Certificate of Health while a Flight Volunteer is arranged. Once booked, you'll receive flight details and a final invoice.

Pickup Day

Gotcha day! Pick your pup up at the airport and bring them home.

Follow-Up & Ongoing Support

Expect a check-in within 7 days of arrival, plus trainer recommendations and open-door support for as long as you need it — there's no expiration date on our help.

Please note: we currently only adopt to applicants in the Pacific Northwest (British Columbia and Washington). All costs during the 4-week trial period are the responsibility of the applicant.
The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP cannot always verify the accuracy of a dog's description, and is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dog's age and/or breed — these are "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and educated estimates.
