Fostering a Dog

WCP does not have a physical shelter. All of our dogs are cared for in their country of origin or  in temporary, loving foster homes in BC. Foster homes are used when dogs arrive without an approved adopter or in cases of emergency when an adopted dog must be rehomed.

Fostering is all the fun of owning a dog without the commitment. WCP will provide our fosters with ample support and will cover any foster-related expenses (food, supplies, medical bills etc.). All the foster needs to do is provide the home and the love!

During the foster period, we ask that a dog’s foster be open to meeting potential applicants who are interested in adopting the dog they are fostering. We also ask that fosters take their foster pup to any appointments and/or training sessions they may require. This is all based around the availability of the foster, of course.

To become a foster, you must meet the same criteria as someone who is wanting to adopt. Start by clicking the “Foster” button on a WCP dog’s profile.

Please note - if you have adopted a dog with us and decide to rehome, you will become the ‘foster’ home for that dog until a rehome takes place. The above policy’s do not apply in this situation.
